Cloned in the Pleasure Dome

by Justin North

1.
Step into the Clone-a-nator. Smell the moss and soap, Cleaning, erasing. A single point reaching back before time, Today I am new, nothing stressing me out. Put the old me in the trash compactor. Pull out the joy with the love extractor. Step into the Clone-a-nator.
2.
Four directions and Three dimensions. Humans crawling over humans. The world is closing in and I feel uneven. The world is closing in and I feel uneven. I wanna watch movies and have a drink, tonight, I really don't want to think. I wanna watch someone smoking on TV, maybe in Black and White, some old movie, and they're smoking on TV, Oh, It can't be me, but I wanna watch you smoking on TV...

Midnight Man 01:46
It seems, the distant youthful glow becomes so easy to ignore. Burning towards the end of life, the last cigarette of the night. I always say a midnight prayer while watching suburban wildlife.
4.
Deer Path 02:12
Brains of the universe unite, at the intergalactic camp site. Just to talk and enjoy the night, watching shadows on the wall by firelight. Oh burn down the WIFI, and hang the blessed blogger. Because the music they constantly play, it means nothing to me about my life. Oh burn down the WIFI, and hang the blessed blogger. Because the music they constantly play, it means nothing to me about my life. A deer path, oh everybody wants one. Lead me in the forest. Through the grass to where I found ya. Lead me in the forest. And I have come so many miles, it seems so many more to go. And the anger they constantly feel, It means nothing to me about my life.

Dome Light 02:58
Hope and love will have their place, on earth and in deep space, before the bangs and after slime, wrapped up in a blanket on the doorstep of time. Dome Light... won't ignite. I found my purpose, carry water from the river. Don't ignore the mystery, chop wood for the fire. Hope and love will have their place, on earth and in deep space, before the bangs and after slime, wrapped up in a blanket on the doorstep of time. Dome Light... won't ignite.
6.
Metal days, dripping away, wet heat, strangling decay. Green moss, paradise lost, I'm covered in slime. I'm responsibly internal, is the Waffle House eternal? (I don't know) Is it all in my mind, where everything is classified and defined? Coffee breath, coffee death, what remains? (I don't know) Swamp Thing, the sky is falling, it ain't so bad. Swamp Thing, my body is failing, I clutch my heating pad. Swamp Thing, going backwards, get a second undergrad. Swamp Thing, love in surplus, more than I ever had.
7.
Golf Body 01:52
The kids are asleep, and you're in bed watching Frasier on the tablet. i'll crawl under the covers and slowly inch my way over to ya. I want you to hold my golf body. I'll take off my polo shirt, hold my golf body. The kids are at school, and I left work early. The house is all ours, i'll meet ya in the kitchen. I want you to hold my golf body. I'll take off my work shirt, hold my golf body.

look up, its the clouds. look down, its a crowd. its so lovely, "look a bird" the ferris wheel of terror, you can't go anywhere. all you can do is stare, from your ferris wheel of terror. you're looking down from the sky, and everybody is gonna die, down on the ground, look what I found. "look a bird" the ferris wheel of terror, you can' go anywhere...its a metaphor...
9.
I miss driving around on pointless roads. Drinking vanilla milkshakes in the cold. The stones in passing cemeteries are telling me, "you gotta do better," 'cause its such a short amount of time to do good, and most of the time i'm not doing what I should. When its my time, I hope I know. I want a clean house before I go. To the Pleasure Dome. To the Pleasure Dome. Still and calm, dust in the sun. Like little stars, we can guide ourselves home.
10.
A crack through my mind. The layers aligned in time. And I see the light, this ship of mine, travelling fine. A crack, a crack in time. Tow the line, far behind. The visible and invisible, together at last, in future, present, past.
