blood commute

by Justin North

/
1.
the day before thanksgiving, I saw the whole big sky. I looked into the cars around me, they all looked like people I knew. The sky whole and wide, opened just for me. Clouds were swirling around the sun. Thats when I knew, thats when i knew, I could bend space in my mind. Then I was in the parking lot of the Olive Garden.
2.
we follow the livestock down the mountain to drink. we set up our tents, while children play, we set up our tents, on fields of grass. just like the snow melts and joins the sky, you are always alive. we set up our tents, watching the sun. we set up our tents, in the cycles of the moon.
3.
the old crypt keeper stumbled at the sight of his first love coming out of the light. "I feel rearranged" she said as she passed. and as their eyes caught, the memories disappeared, one by one. and then she was gone.
4.
no swimming 01:42
i wanna jump the in the river, but there's no swimming. i wanna jump in a lake, but there's no swimming. i see the creek in the forest and i wanna get naked, but there's no swimming. 'cause the fertilizers leaking, and the fertilizers in. no swimming, there will be no swimming.
5.
whats at the center of your life? if you don't reach your dreams, do you have anything? you can lose your hands, your feet, lose your mind... it doesn't mean you didn't do anything. don't put the man at the middle of your life, don't put the man in the middle. man will fail you every time. oh put the love you have instead, in the middle of your life. man's gonna fail you every time. put the love there instead. don't let them tell you what you need to do. don't let them tell you what you need to do.
6.
brain atomic 03:04
burnt mouth on lean cuisine, turkey and stuffing. amounts to nothing. what does it mean? when an f-16 is killing the children who make your jeans, if all life is sacred, you don't get to choose... its in the news. doctor, give me the news. "you've got a case of brain atomic" don't drop it!!! don't drop it!!! ...brain atomic...
7.
you can't have me you can't have me I smell suburban lawns, chemicals in the sun mutated fleas you can't have me when I drive home hitting every red light chemicals in the lawns mutated... Limestone. I see the limestone on my drive home, and the little guys are mutated.
8.
house in kentucky we call home, when it rains we bail the drains. we joke and call this place our "jurassic park" the giant bugs among the poison ivy overgrowth but we still have it pretty easy, and rather disease-y free-sy. border lines, drawn out like a mosquito net, we are making malaria clip art for countries in our debt... ".... you are welcome..."
9.
holy smokes 01:16
10.
there's a reason people on mountains can see God, when you look out at a big sky, in the morning, clouds are on fire. I can see you, through the telephone wires. alone at dusk on the patio of my heart, in my lawn chair, i'm looking at you.
